Video Shoot/Shot!
On Saturday, July 23 a group of 20 people descended on a small studio space in Kitchener, Ontario to shoot the music video for Jazzmyn Bradshaw’s “When I Say” (available on CD Baby and iTunes).
I have worked with large groups before in various contexts and there have almost always been headaches, especially when a high ratio of children to adults, as was the cast of this shoot.
What amazed me, however, was that despite temperatures of over 30 Degrees Celsius (that’s about 90 to you Americans out there) and children ranging from just less then a year old to, well, a child in their 40s (that’d be me) everything went about as smoothly as I could have wanted. The entire video was shot in 4 hours, including final script changes, costuming, props, and set up and tear down. Crazy, I know!
I have in my possession a DVD copy of the finished product, and suffice it to say my mind has been blown.
I could not have asked for a better group of people to work with, and after viewing the finished video quite a few times already, I have to say that I wouldn’t change one thing if I could.
Having said all that, I don’t want to post it QUITE yet. We’re still waiting on a few other things to come together before we make it available to the public. Don’t worry - you’ll be able to see it in a couple of weeks. At that time I’ll have a full post, with a complete listing of all of the wonderful people involved, and all the people who helped make this video possible.
